It's not Goodbye, It's just So Long for Now
3

I have a very hard time giving things up. Especially when they mean a lot to me. If it's something that I've had in my life for a long time, then it is very hard to let go of it as well. I've made a lot of great friends here on Wryte Stuff, but I'm afraid that I will have to say aufwiedersehen (German for "until we meet again") for a while. This has been a very hard decision for... How I feel about God
2

I wrote what follows quite some time ago. I never submitted it to the then SearchWarp that is now Wryte Stuff. Now that this assignment has come up, I've had another look at it. It's been a few years since I wrote this and I find I still feel much the same now as I did then. But originally I had intended this to be much longer and to go into my feelings in greater detail. It was to be more for me than... (posted by Dianne 27 days 5 hours ago.)
Life always finds a Way
1

As long as there is breath in us, there is a way. Until we are on the other side of the dirt, there are always options. The end is not the end until we give up, and even then it may not be the end. It might just be the beginning. After her meeting with Nedra Ellsworth, Daria Ingramm felt lighter than she had felt in so very long. She thought that she might just blow away on the wind like the leaves... (posted by Dianne 32 days 6 hours ago.)
Racism Works both Ways

Because I am basically Caucasian and was raised by fairly bigoted parents, I have always been very aware of how I respond to people who are not Caucasian. And the fact is that a very good case could be made for there being some Native American genes in me from both sides of my family tree. Both sides have pretty much studiously ignored or denied this all of my life. You should have heard the tales my paternal Grandmother would tell... (posted by Dianne 33 days 23 hours ago.)
The Real
1

This is what's real. It is all real. We might think that only those things we can see and smell and touch are real, but that is only the smallest part of the Real. Our thoughts are real. Our feelings are real. The things that we imagine are real. Some might look for the Real in the wild places. The forests and the deserts and the swamps. The savannahs and the plains and the oceans. But the Real is also in the... (posted by Dianne 37 days 6 hours ago.)
Nothin' but Time

If I had nothing but spare time, what would I do with it? Wow. This is so in the realm of the unimaginable that I'm not sure I can answer that question. Okay. Exaggeration aside, I'll give it a shot. I have actually spent a lot of not very spare time imagining what I might do with spare time if I had an unlimited supply of it. Enriching things like going back to school are on the long list. I do, however, have a short list. When I... (posted by Dianne 41 days 7 hours ago.)
Finding the Fork in the Road

"No. I'm not alright. I don't think I've been alright for a very long time. I may never have been alright. I don't even think I know what alright is." What Daria had felt a moment earlier was profound embarrassment. She felt as if this stranger had seen right into her. That with one glance, she had been summed up. All her secrets known. The longings and the imaginings. The private things that not even she dared look at.... (posted by Dianne 43 days 5 hours ago.)
Into the Wilderness

There is a little bit of the Wild in each of us. We like to think we are urbane and civilized, and to a large extent we are, but the Wild is there regardless of what we might think. It is essential to our survival. Not just in reflexes that allow us to avoid a traffic accident or being hit square in the face with a baseball flying at us at 80 miles per hour. Or that feeling on the back of your neck that tells you someone is staring... (posted by Dianne 47 days 4 hours ago.)
