What I love about this time of year is not baseball. To be fair, I don't think there is anything wrong with the sport. In fact, I was once quite a fan. It's just that I do get tired of hearing about it over and over and over wherever I go.
When Bernd and I lived in Southern California, I was a diehard fan of the Dodgers. I'd watch the away games on television and even went to some of the home games. On one occasion, I noticed about half way through the game that my cousins (who lived about 200 miles from Dodger Stadium) were sitting a couple of rows below us. At the seventh inning stretch, I went down and surprised them. We had a nice visit after the game.
Bernd liked baseball as well, but not to attend the games. He preferred it on television. I would sit enraptured and he would sit next to me in his recliner … sound asleep. He said it was the best nap time he ever got.
These days, I don't have much patience for watching other people play sports. Well, at least not at the professional, I'm-getting-huge-sums-of-money-to-do-this, level. I'm currently too completely besotted with horses to have much desire for other sports. I love getting out into the wonderful fall weather and watching others ride and also do a little of my own riding. Our club, the Dressage Desperados, has its last show of the year coming up and we always have a Costume Class at it. This year I am dressing my horse as a motorcycle. He'll have a headlight with turn indicators, taillight with turn indicators, wheels, a red body and whatever else I can manage. I have an old black leather chopper jacket (I've affixed "Bad to the Bone" to the back of it) that I will wear and I've bought some denim breeches. I've already got the black boots and helmet. Should be pretty funny. What's not to love about that?
For a lot of people autumn means baseball. No way around that. And that's fine. But for me autumn (my most favorite season) means quiet walks, cool temps, refreshing breezes, colorful leaves skittering along the ground and hot drinks in the evening while reading a good book or article. Which brings me to …
I have another love and that is SearchWarp. There is nothing not to like about it. And it's great no matter the time of year. It lets me say what I want to say and offers a wonderfully non-judgmental forum in which to do it. And the other authors are a delight to read. There are so many writing to so many different topics that you would be hard pressed not to find what you were looking for. Fall, a comfy chair, SearchWarp, a few free moments spent with friends … what could be better?

I think that if I were actively playing baseball, it would be another matter. But I'm riding horses right now and so that takes center stage. For a while, small as I am, I played flag football and watched professional football quite religiously. :)
Thanks for reading!
